Unique outrigger sailing canoe for sale!

Flying Penguin is 18 ft lightweight wood-epoxy strip-plank construction sailing canoe. Its a Gary Dierking’s Ulua design. Does well both while sailing or paddling. 6 square meters of sail area is sufficient enough for a boat under 55kg (fully rigged). Carrying capacity: 2-3 persons.

Flying Penguin is fun to sail, easy to manage, lightweight to store away or transport into whatever location you might choose for your next playground. Dismantling is pretty straightforward: just untie the lashings and off you go. Main hull weight is only 30 kg.

Construction: West System epoxy, main hull reinforced 280g glass fiber – both outside and inside cockpit, double layer on keel; beam & hiking supports are 5 layers lamination, reinforced with glass fiber; boom laminated from 2 layers, reinforced with glass fiber; ama is made of foam over Okume plywood webbing and is sealed with 280g glass fiber with double and triple layers on stress areas; leeboard is 3 layer Okume 4mm plywood lamination, reinforced with 280g glass fiber; rudder blade and hanger is Okume plywood coated with 2 layers of epoxy; rudder cassette Plywood and pine coated with 2 layers of epoxy; hiking seats are made of solid oak, coated with Osmo; main hull, ama, beams, hiking supports and boom are coated with durable Tikkurila Temadur 2 part polyurethane paint, cockpit Tikkurila Temacoat 2 part epoxy paint.

Aluminum mast, Reval Sails, ratchet block, soft shackles, proper marine grade lines for rigging and lashings. Inflatable safety amas.
